This is my first bad review. Let me say this... we were willing to take a 2600.00 hit and find a different hotel after two hours. Dirty. Cockroaches. Sketchy long interior halls to get to the beach that didn’t feel safe for our family. Honestly, find a different place. You’ll regret booking here.

Firstly when we arrived to our room we instantly stepped in water, the sink and shower were leaking everywhere. Then we looked in the kitchen and saw that their were old French fries still in the oven. The sink and microwave had garbage in them and there were dirty clothes in the drawers from the last guests. Clearly they don't take cleaning very serious witch during a pandemic is awful. There was no manager on site and the people at the desk would help the situation. Every time we walked through the lobby we noticed all the other people staying there were complaining as well so it wasn't just or room. I could keep going on about the awful things we experienced during or time but I don't feel like writing a 4 page essay. DO NOT BOOK AT THIS HOTEL!

Rooms were very dirty, I had blood stains on my pillows! Sheets smelled badly, no towels, no hot water, our king bed were two twins pushed together. No ice or soda machines. The tiki restaurant brought in our lunch from another vendor the meal was $250, and the food was gas station quality! Horrible customer service, rude right from the start! No maps of hotel, no stairs or fire escape routes, only noticed because it took 15 minutes to catch the elevator!! Our ocean view was NOT a ocean view and had a smelly dumpster right below our balcony. Only valet parking available for $48 a day! We checked out early and spent the day finding a new resort. Pass on this place!

This place doesn't even deserve 1 star. They are working a," Bait and Switch," operation. We arrived and weren't able to check in until 4 PM, which we were good with since we arrived a little early, so we hung out at the pool/bar until check in was available. While checking in, we learned that the room that they were giving us wasn't even close to the room that we had prepaid for. They gave us a room that had a king size bed and two twin beds, even though we had prepaid for a room that had a king size bed and two queen beds. When we expressed our displeasure, they said that there wasn't anything that they could do and that they didn't have anything else available at all. The more we pressed the issue, they advised that they could show us a couple of rooms and we could pick the one that we wanted. These rooms were dirty and didn't have the bed accommodations that we needed. We told them that we were very displeased, but we were there and didn't have anywhere else to go. We were told that there wasn't anything that could be done and that we had to accept one of the rooms and that it would only be for one night, until we could talk to someone that handled reservations the following day. They showed us one more room and it was the best of the rooms that they showed us and we felt forced into taking it, even though it wasn't anything close to what we had paid extra money for. We ended up keeping this room throughout our stay and were told to fill out a complaint to try to get a refund of the extra money that we paid, since the room that we had to settle for was considerably less than the room that we had reserved. We are in the process of filing the complaint and attempting to get the refund back to us. I would highly recommend seeking other options than this establishment. The room that we prepaid for that was advertised wasn't even available and we still don't know if this room even exist or they just use pictures to draw people in to do the same thing to as they did to us.

Despite the mixed reviews online, we decided to give The Alexander Hotel the benefit of the doubt for a long weekend retreat to warmer weather. We sincerely wish we had chosen a different facility and will be leaving three days earlier than expected. The website is full of false advertisements that do not exist here, including in-room dining, ocean front view (it faces another condo), spa, two pools (there is one small pool), and available restaurants. We understand that the facility is under construction, but these were amenities that steered us to book here. If they are temporarily unavailable, the guests should be made aware of this prior to purchasing. Online, they are also careful to omit quite a bit of information, such as the fact that valet parking is the ONLY option for $35/day.
All of this could have been understood, and even overlooked, had the room and staff had the quality of service expected at a “resort.” To begin, the rooms are dirty and run-down. There were stains on the living room furniture (which is more than 20 years old), holes in the walls, rust on the shower heads and sprinkler system, chipped tub, no washer/dryer, and no blinds. On the balcony were two wooden bar stools opposed to the usual patio set. In a two-room suite advertised for six people, there was not even enough seating for three. The living room TV did not work at all and the other two had to be unplugged and reset each time they were turned on. Half of the light bulbs were missing, and the lamps that did have bulbs had no pieces to keep the shades in place, causing them to topple each time we turned on the lamp. Exposed wires throughout were also a concern had we been staying with children.
The kitchen and bathrooms are equally as dilapidated. The ice maker did not work, and the facility knew this because there was one single ice try in the freezer. The few dishes (4 coffee cups, 4 glasses, 1 wine glass) were dirty when we arrived. We received one towel per person and no washcloths. The front desk, when they finally answered after three calls, said washcloths had to be requested at the desk. When we eventually got them, they were of no use because the showers had a maximum of three minutes of hot water. We told the front desk after another few unanswered calls, and they did send a maintenance person(on day 3). He turned on the water, felt it, told us it was warm, and left. Two of the three front desk personnel we encountered were rude and acted as if we were bothering them.
When someone is on vacation, they expect to receive what they pay for, which is usually an improvement from their home. We anticipated the luxury resort advertised and purchased, not the decrepit accommodations received. At home, we have TV, hot water, ice, dishes, lights, clean furniture, and blinds. The Alexander Hotel, however, does not deliver on their advertised promises or even provide these basic necessities. We certainly hope this is not the standard for Miami or its hospitality industry, as this has been the worst hotel experience we’ve ever encountered.
