So I originally planed to 4 nights at this hotel, but from the moment I checked in, my experience was horrible. I checking in, I had someone show me to my room. I thought they were a bell boy since they had a gift bag in their hand. He let himself in and gave me a tour of my room, and afterwards, he told me to have a seat at a table near by. Turns out he was trying to sell the hotels timeshare. After being jetlag and hungry, the last thing I wanted to hear was a sales pitch. It was just my daughter and I traveling and we felt very very uncomfortable having him in our room so late at night but no matter what we said, he would not leave. It took us an hour to finally convince him to go after we agreed to go to his presentation the next morning. The next morning came and my daughter and I wanted to explore the city. The seller saw us leaving the lobby and stopped us at the steps of the hotel. He became very aggressive in his sales pitch and asked us where we were going and why we were leaving prior to his presentation we had agreed to go to. We would take step to leave and he would follow suit and block our path. Soon his partner joined up with him and they would not let us leave the hotel property. We wasted another hour trying to leave. Feeling unsafe and uncomfortable after this, we immediately found another hotel to accommodate us on a short notice and checked out early from the Royal Islander. The receptionist told us to contact the travel agency to get a refund for the unused days. We contacted the agency and they called the hotel, and the staff told the agent that the hotel has a no refund policy on early check outs. That is different from what the hotel staff told us. Overall this is a horrible hotel and you will have a horrible experience.
I forgot to mentioned, they make you deposit $300 to use at their restaurants and hotel store, but the receptionist told us it was optional to use the balance and whatever was left unused would be returned at the end of the visit. This was also untrue. I went to the restaurant located in the hotel and was told I had to use my balance until I no longer had any left. The server was very rude and uncaring. The food tasted awful as well.

Hotel con muchas cualidades,yo me quede en una suite donde yo quería por conveniente cocina, refrigerador y esto fue muy bien, el Hotel tiene actividades para todos, ademas buena atención, limpio y muy agradable en general, un Market muy conveniente, la playa tenía sargazo por la época de agosto en que fui. Pero la Riviera Maya tiene tanto que ver y disfrutar, islas que visitar sin sargazo que eso no fue un problema para nosotros. Recomiendo este Hotel muy bueno en todo con un Bar en la piscina y restaurante.

Good value,especially the breakfast for $7 (if booked with room).Options for dining are limited but you also get access to the facilities and restaurants at their sister-, posher, resort down the road,for which shuttles are available every hour.I would've given Service rive 5 stars too were it not for the fact that the drinks are overpriced and under-alcoholed. The staff themselves were as good and friendly as any.

My family has been coming to The Royal Islander for 24 years. We love staying here and it’s been like a second home for me coming since I was 12 years old. It was nice being able to bring my daughter to the same room I used to stay when I was little.
The staff is amazing and always there to help. The cleaning staff leaves your room nice and clean. The one thing is like to see is more restaurant options. I believe in the remodel next year this is coming but overall a great place to stay if you are traveling with a family.

Worst hotel ever! It was a violation of my privacy.
I arrived late for checkout, the reception boy told me for checkout delay they will charge me 100 dollars per hour. This hotel charges like 190 dollars per day, so I don’t understand how could it be, and I was not informed about this kind of penalty. But they will be nice with me they won’t charge me anything because they already took my luggage out, I was in shock and I asked him again what do you mean you took me luggage out?! I never in my life heard any case like this. And it was true they packaged my stuff and they just throw me out of the room. Imagine it one old man touched all my underwear, I still feel disgusting about it and all my things. I feel treated like trash, it was incredible! They violent my privacy and they told me that room was assigned to a partner. The hotel facilities are old nothing extraordinary, nothing good for recommendations. I was so angry, I forgot to take some photos of my luggage, they put a wipe for hotel’s clearance with me shoes, what a amazing!

Mi estancia fue del 20 al 24 de mayo, el servicio de recepción y amenidades del hotel son excelentes, el servicio de buffet en el desayuno incluye alimentos muy ricos y de variedad. Referente a la habitación, el espacio es muy bueno, aunque las camas plegables individuales en la sala no son tan geniales y están percudidas del uso, aunque tienen un cubre colchón aún así es visible lo amarillo de los colchones, las televisiones son un poco obsoletas y no cuentan con opciones para vincular con celular y reproducir videos o música desde el celular. La recámara con la cama Queen está excelente con un balcón y la vista al mar. LO MALO fue la atención del personal de la tienda que se encuentra en la planta baja, cafetería que cierra muy temprano que es 9 PM y no son empáticos y dan mala cara

We have been to the Royal Islander for last 16 years. We obviously love this place. The employees are the key to a great visit. It is so nice to see the same people working here every year. Our maid, Maria Angela Kauil is a shining example. Every encounter with her includes a very warm and happy smile. Maria has been our maid for 10 plus years.
The employees at the Islander are their secret to success. Everyone goes beyond your expectations to insure a safe and fun vacation.

Hay playa aunque por la marea era cortita y con algo de sargazo. Viajamos con un bebé de 10 meses y en el hotel todo perfecto.

Our second stay at the Royal Islander. This is truly a 5 star resort. Our villa was spacious and very accommodating, well provisioned with cooking and dining ware if needed and a daily maid service that was top notch. The staff here is extremely friendly and accommodating willing to quickly fulfil your requests. The resort area includes a large pool area with a floating bar as well as a kiddie pool. Ample seating with shaded areas and umbrellas. There are daily activities for children as well as adults. The beach has suffered from recent storms and has been reduced significantly in size as has much of the beach area along the hotel zone. There are two restaurants on site with excellent chef creations. What I like most about this resort is it's laid back character, offering relaxation and an easy vacation lifestyle. We spent two weeks here and were sorry to leave.

Gorgeous property, comfortable rooms, good restaurant choices on property and on their sister properties, which can be accessed by a free shuttle. We loved the pool and close access to a beach and could usually find lawn chairs.The only thing we didn't like was that they kept trying to sell us a time share, and they cater to the time share owners. At one point we tried booking a dinner reservation and they said time share owners got first priority for dinner reservations. They told us to check back at a certain time. When we did, the reservations were gone.

Very helpful staff, they have free on-site Covid testing which is really helpful for the checkout and airplane planning process for going home. There's a shuttle system between the many 'royal' resorts so you can beach and pool hop, using your key card to pay for your food and drinks at any of them, which is very convenient. Lots of pool and beach spots, people who are staying here extended periods have an early start on going and staying out their spots. The buffet food is ok if you are hungry and too tired to go anywhere, from tourist excursions, but I would rather go to other restaurants down the way. Check out my other posts for restaurants I liked, you'll need to take the bus, taxi or your rental car. Having a rental car for a few days was so worth it, going to a couple attractions a ways away, or going to the grocery store for the week.

O hotel é bom. Os restaurantes são muito bons. Os garçons dos restaurantes são bem amigáveis. Os funcionários da recepção não. Segue a média de preços de Cancún, bem mais caro que o resto do México. A área na praia é agradável,mas não pudemos entrar no mar porque tinha bandeira vermelha, e pelo jeito é assim boa parte do ano.

Pontos Positivos - A estrutura do hotel é muito boa. Tudo limpo, bem organizado, os funcionários são muito atenciosos, a piscina é aquecida, a praia é bonita, água do mar é azul e transparente. Pode-se acessar e utilutilizar a estrutura dos outros hotéis da rede Royal :).Pontos Negativos - O passeio que "ganhamos" no hotel para Tulum é uma furada. Tivemos que passar 45 min em uma joalheria e 30 min em uma outra loja ao lado que vende artesanato e tequilas. Saímos do hotel às 08:15 mas só chegamos a Tulum às 12:00hs . Outro ponto negativo é que a internet do hotel é muito ruim. Não funciona no quarto :(.

Hotel de ótima qualidade, funcionários simpáticos e atenciosos, organização perfeita. Teatendem sorrindo. Quarto limpo e revisado final da tarde. Toalhas trocadas ate muitas vezes. Pelo estrutura do hotel penso que deveria ter atração noturna, isso falta. O bar so duas vezes na semana tem karaoke, outros dias fecha as 10.00hrs. O bom que podemos usufruir restaurantes fora do hotel,da mesma rede,tem translado. Comidas muito boas. O cafe da manha maravilho. Outras refeições não muito para meu paladar. A praia na frente do hotel limpíssima, só o mar muito agitado, agua transparente.. Super recomendo, estivemos la dia 16.04.18 a 23.04.18.

Lovely place, good value for what you get. I only have two real complaints - the bed is hard and uncomfortable for an upscale hotel, and the air freshener they use in the lobby is nauseating. However, the people are nice, the pool is great, the drink prices are reasonable, and there's a great little store for basic groceries and such right off the lobby. Covid tests for return to the US are provided at the hotel and free for guests; you get the results in a few hours. I also love having a concierge to answer questions and whatnot - shout out to Diego for taking good care of us.

Es un hotel con demasiado ambiente familiar, si son jóvenes sin hijos no lo recomiendo de lo contrario si, es muy calmado la comida esta bien los precios también y la ventaja es que puedes conocer otros hoteles que pertenecen a la cadenas royal resorts totalmente gratis y usar por ejemplo sus piscinas, el gym si tienes que pagarlo si vienes de otro hotel, x ejemplo el islander no tiene gym pero pude conocer el royal sands muy bonito. La ubicación no es muy buena no hay nada cerca solo un museo asi que también consideren eso

Excelente atencions por parte de la hostess Zuleima, estuvo pendiente todo el tiempo de nuestra estancia con los mejores consejos posiblez, en general el personal muy amable y muy atentos en tener todo perfecto desde la limpieza, atención al cliente y demás, el lugar esta muy bien mantenido, su piscina permanece muy limpia y su playa hermosa, ofrecen los shuttles a sus demáslocaciones lo cual es muy atractivo para los huespedes, la habitaciones aunque con mobiliario un poco anticuado lo mantienen como nuevo.Definitivamente bo es el resort con las mejores facilidades pero si es uno de los mejores en atención a los huespedes.Cabe mencionar que te exigen un deposito el cual te lo devuelven en el momento del check out sin problema, algunos comentarios hablan sobre el lugar algo desactualizado y es verdad que tiene mobiliario de los 90, sin embargo todo esta muy bien mantenido.

Las unicas contras es que trataran de venderte una membresia o un tiempo compartido en cualquier oportunidad. Y te hacen dejar una tarjeta de credito o pagar una cuota de 5,000 pesos mexicanos como "fondo" para todos tus gastos que pudieras tener dentro del hotel que previamente no te dicen que tienes que dejar. Well , the hotel is dated . Has the most strange policies . Reception desk below average Deposit required . Hotel management probably thinks quest no pay . Breakfast limited bad qualityPaying extra if you want different coffee style. Sugar not included in coffee at room . You need to buy it . Management needs to rethink what they offer for the price . Service is good but it is good in every hotel . Cancun unfortunately is a place highly overrated and became very expensive compared with other destinations in Latin America.

Pésimo servicio en lo que es la recepción y administración del hotel, aunque seas socio puedes estar fácil una hora esperando para poder hacer un check in y otra hora para hacer un check out. El trato hacia el huésped es fatal, poco amistoso, poco amable y sin disposición de resolver. Para darte servicio de bar en la alberca no hay personal suficiente, dos meseros para atender a todos. Además de que se ponen a hacer mantenimiento del hotel en tus vacaciones,con ruido constante. Más de 15 años asistiendo y este año de verdad fue muy decepcionante. Se procedió ya a meter la queja correspondiente.

Everybody checks in on Saturday at 4pm. Don’t arrive early, even if the concierge says you can… you will end up sitting in the lobby for many hours. When 4pm arrives. Lookout it’s a zoo. They should seriously come up with a decent notification system to let people know when their room is available.
Staff are very friendly and courteous. The Hotel itself is very clean. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Good WI-FI coverage and reliable speed in each room. Cable TV includes HBO, Showtime and 4 USA Networks. Restaurant choices are limited, but there is a kitchen in full villa rooms and a feasibly priced grocery store in the resort.
Excluding Check-in experience- this is a great resort.

My family has been coming to the Royal Islander for the past 20 plus years. The views are amazing, the rooms are clean and well-stocked, and the dining options in and around the resort are pretty good. The on-site store is reallyconvenient and the foreign exchange rate at the front desk is very good. It's a bit far from downtown but the public bus is easy or taxis are very available. I will say on this visit the service was less than what we are accustomed to and the guests seemed evenly split between timeshare renters and owners. Overall this is a quiet, clean, safe, and calm family-style resort.

We we're invited by our friends that owns a membership for this club.. The most valuable asset are all the employees, the buildings, beach and villas with full kitchen were great for us to cook our healthy seafood always enjoyed so much my beach front view with a huge balcony, it was a delightful experience just to open the slide doors and get right in front of the ocean.we took sun tan and ate, at the balcony watching and hearing all the sea sounds!! ROYAL RESORTS NEVER DISAPPOINT US.

I cannot stress enough how amazing the staff is at this hotel. They will go to great lengths to make their guests comfortable and they will right any wrong. Rosa at the front desk is amazing and helped us with our room. Friendly staff, great location, beautiful pool. You will NOT be disappointed.
