This review is for the room, restaurant and office front desk.Restaurant.Dinner.The manager, Karl, is a pleasant man.He seemed a little flustered when we got there.We spoke with him as we were leaving and he is a lovely man.Our waitress, Christina, was absolutely OUT OF THIS WORLD WONDERFUL!!!Despite being so busy, she still managed to keep track of everything and always heard us when we called for her.Breakfast : it was ok.Kelly is pleasant and friendly.We liked the food we had ordered.Office front desk : Billy was delightful.So pleasant and helpful.Room : the room is neat and tidy.We had everything we needed.

Havia muita gente visitando naquele domingo de vários estados, e devo dizer que foi um encontro agradável. O serviço foi excelente, enquanto o servidor foi atencioso. There were a lot of people visiting that Sunday from many states, and I must say it was a pleasant encounter. The service was outstanding, while the server was attentive. I first thought the food was ridiculously priced, but after enjoying my meal I can honestly say that it was the best dinner that I've had dining out in many years, and the food was absolutely amazing. The price was simply a reflection of quality, and I highly recommend that everyone enjoy The Skyland at least once.

Originalmente, eu não estava planejando ficar aqui, mas tentei reservar um quarto para uma noite de sábado no dia anterior à nossa chegada. Claro, sendo um fim de semana de verão, eles estavam todos reservados em Skyland e Big Meadows. Mas, tentei procurar novamente no dia seguinte e consegui encontrar um quarto por um preço razoável. Pontuação! O processo de check-in foi rápido e fácil. Eles forneceram um mapa e a mulher na recepção destacou as direções e a cabine para que pudéssemos encontrar o caminho e não nos perder. Tivemos sorte e nossa cabana tinha uma vista bem bonita do vale abaixo, e, se quiséssemos, a trilha que levava até Skyland ficava logo atrás da nossa cabana. Mas isso também significava que havia algum tráfego extra de pedestres ao redor de nossa cabine porque outros hóspedes também estavam usando essa trilha. A cabine não era super luxuosa, eles só tinham alguns produtos de higiene pessoal, um keurig e alguns ventiladores. Não há refrigeração ou ar condicionado, então eles tinham as janelas pregadas. I wasn't originally planning to stay here but I tried booking a room for a Saturday night the day before we arrived. Of course, it being a summer weekend, they were all booked at both Skyland and Big Meadows. But, I tried looking again the next day and was able to find a room for a reasonable price. Score! Check-in process was quick and easy. They provided a map and the woman at the desk highlighted the directions and cabin so we were able to find our way and not get lost. We lucked out and our cabin had a pretty nice view of the valley below, and, if we wanted, the trail that led up to Skyland was right behind our cabin. But that also meant that there was some extra foot traffic around our cabin because other guests were also using this trail. The cabin wasn't super luxurious, they just had some toiletries, a keurig, and some fans. There is no refrigeration or AC, so they had the windows nailed open. There was also some fans provided. I did not try the shower. The bedding looked pretty clean, the mattress was comfortable and not too hard, and I slept well through the night. Overall, probably only worth the $155 a night to be near so many great hiking trails.

Bela localização no Parque Nacional Shenandoah. Fui para Skyland para passeios a cavalo que foi ótimo. Se Hospedaram no Big Meadow que fica a cerca de dez quilômetros de distância. Comida e serviço em ambos os lugares foram excelentes. Os quartos são rústicos, mas adequados. Aviso para aqueles com adolescentes WiFi é irregular na melhor das hipóteses. Não tínhamos ar condicionado, mas a brisa da montanha compensou isso.

We had a wonderful stay at Skyland enjoying the location, lodging, dining, and ambiance. Being able to enjoy the late evening and early morning hours inside of Shenandoah National Park made for some special memories. Every staff member we encountered was warm and friendly. We ate either in the dining room , or on the patio for breakfast and dinner with my favorites being the pulled pork and the half chicken. We also enjoyed walking the property, and our room wasn't bad but I do wish I had known more about the rooms when I made my reservation. I did like the higher locations above the Massanutten Lodge, several of the cabins, and the Laurel section of rooms (2nd Floor). With this new found knowledge I think in the future I may contact the resort and try to request a specific area. Be mindful that the rooms are just that; basic rooms with you basic furnishings and ours was clean with fresh linens. We did take a cooler to keep things chilled in our room. Mornings walking the property really made a great start to each day because it was so peaceful, and evenings watching the sun set were a real treat. The property puts you close to many great hiking trails, and several waterfalls that do require a hike to get to. With that said we are looking forward to another visit.

Beautiful location in Shenandoah National Park. Went to Skyland for horse back riding which was great. Stayed at Big Meadow which is about ten miles away. Food and service in both places were great. Rooms are rustic but adequate. Warning for those with teenagers WiFi is spotty at best. We had no AC but mountain breeze made up for it.

We recently stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms. The lodge was originally built in 1935, so after renovation it still retained the rustic look. However, the bathroom was nicely updated, the room was clean, freshly painted, and neat.
The people working the front desk were courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable about the area. The grounds were kept neat and clean. The food was good. Information about the area along Skyline Drive was readily available. Activities available are hiking, horseback riding, and wildlife watching. There are many opportunities for beautiful views along the parkway and from the lodge itself.

Nossa família de 5 (3 dos quais são crianças adultas), se hospedaram no final de junho a 3 de julho. Não nos importamos em dividir um quarto com duas camas e um berço. Tínhamos uma sacada para pegar o pôr do sol todas as noites, se perdêssemos no lodge principal. A localização é alta para que você tenha uma vista espetacular. O bar, jantar e café foram certamente bom ter e foram todos bons. Então, tantas caminhadas por perto. Também fizemos passeios a cavalo que ficava a uma curta distância do lodge. Incrível!

Our family of 5 (3 of which are adult children), stayed late June through July 3. We didn't mind sharing one room with two beds and a cot. We had a balcony to catch the sunset every night if we missed it up at the main lodge. The location is high so you have spectacular views. The bar, dining and coffee shop were certainly nice to have and were all good. So, so many hikes close by. We also did horse back riding which was walking distance from lodge. Awesome!

Ótimo, simples, amigável e tranquilo lugar para ficar... bem no parque! Eu adorava comer na sala de jantar Pollock depois de um dia de caminhada e depois me retirar para belas vistas e vistas do vale abaixo da minha cabana rústica (eles também têm quartos mais modernos disponíveis no próprio lodge). Espero que este lugar seja capaz de manter seu charme pitoresco e rústico, e não ser comprado por alguma corporação que aumenta os preços e arruína a alma deste lugar... estacionar ainda mais.

Excelente, sencillo, agradable y tranquilo lugar para hospedarse... ¡justo en el parque! Me encantó comer en el comedor de Pollock después de un día de caminata, y luego retirarme a las hermosas vistas del valle desde mi cabaña rústica (también tienen habitaciones más modernas disponibles en el albergue). Espero que este lugar pueda conservar su encanto rústico y pintoresco, y no ser comprado por alguna corporación que sube los precios y arruina el alma de este lugar... es una gran pieza de América y me permite apreciar mi tiempo en el aparcar aún más.

Great, simple, friendly and peaceful place to stay...right in the park! I loved eating in the Pollock dining room after a day of hiking, and then retiring to beautiful views and vistas of the valley below from my rustic cabin (they have more modern rooms available in the lodge itself too).
I hope this place is able to retain it's quaint and rustic charm, and not get bought out by some corporation that raises prices and ruins the soul of this place...it's such a great piece of Americana and let me appreciate my time in the park even more.

Visite a Skyland en Shenandoah para disfrutar del Apple Butter Festival. Fue muy divertido. Tenían bastante comida de manzana, varias actividades para los niños y música en vivo. Le recomiendo el Festival y Skyland a todos.
