I don't know anything about the requirements to get stars... But for a hotel with seals of recommendation from trip advisor I must say I expected more. I'm actually very disappointed.
The first room I staid wasn't to bad other than the fact it somehow didn't have lights so you had to use a standing lamp. Then one day they just suddly storm in and demand we change room imidiatly, in like, right away. We were doing stuff... and... sighs. That's just rude. Our afternoon plans were ruined and we had to interrupt what we were doing to rush to change rooms because they wanted us to while being looked at most of the time.
The new room was smaller. The bed was smaller me and my partner had a hard time not kicking each other out. The bathroom had a weird discusting hole on the ground that had a lid but kept coming out. There were some tiny little flying bugs we could not get rid of and were annoying.
I read other reviews and they said their breakfast was good. But they CURRENTLY DO NOT SERVE ANY BREAKFAST. I asked. They replied "no breakfast". I read the reviews again and wondered, perhaps they don't have breakfast right now. They seem to have a hard time communicating so I asked at almost every hour of the morning. They don't serve breakfast any longer. You got to go to get it outside.
Do check the date of the reviews when you read them. I see very great ones but they seem to be somewhat outdated. This place is, in my opinion, in serious need of fixing and until its fixed i cant recomend this to anyone. I seriously don't belive there isn't a better hotel in the area than this. And if there really isn't. Maybe it's best to change travel destinations that has transportation so you can still enjoy the sights and enjoy your travels everyone!

It's located away from the city center and it's nice and quiet in the night. Little bit old , but it has all of the basic stuff, that you may need.

The staff are very nice but frankly I have rarely seen a hotel so run down and not looking like the picture. Be careful to look at the recent reviews as the good ones are a bit dated
- a musty smell and cold tobacco very present
- heating in only one room and very badly insulated we were obliged to put covers on the windows
- hardly clean
- we didn't even have bedding when we arrived we were given old chalet blankets instead of sheets when we insisted on real blankets worthy of a 3 star hotel as it was still winter we were cold we only had a duvet without a sheet!
- the hotel was very dilapidated with holes in the stained glass windows in the reception area
Bad experience in any case I do not recommend

Very nice accommodation for a trip to Porto. Conveniently located with walking distance to old historical Porto. If that longer walk is too long, you have one easy bus just straight to all attractions. The owner of B&B is very friendly and provides very detailed guidelines what you should see. The rooms are very clean and good breakfast is provided.
