Chy-An-Albany provides an ideal base to explore St. Ives and its renowned Tate Gallery, as well as the quaint harbour side, cobbled streets and collection of beautiful beaches that have captivated artists and tourists for over a century. The hotel is also just a short walk from the train station at the bottom of the hill (approximately 5 minutes). Originally 3 Edwardian houses built for local sea captains with the Hain Shipping Company, Chy-an-Albany was converted to a hotel in the 1920s. The hotel has been tastefully refurbished retaining much of the charm of the original building. The hotel also offers its brand new art-themed restaurant which opened in 2010- The Lighthouse Bistro showcases a wide range of art from local artists including Cathrine Stringer & Alistair Common. The gallery-style restaurant offers contemporary dining using the very freshest local vegetables and produce, fish straight from the sea and Cornish made cheeses alongside exotic foods and wines from around the world. In addition to exhibiting in the bistro there are also prints and other works of art on display from both local and international artists in the bar, reception and sunlounge. Commission from sales are being donated to the RNLI. The Bistro also has some of the finest views over St Ives Bay and Godrevy Lighthouse. (Also open to non- residents)
