Top quality food and accommodation. If you're tall then try to book a room that's not in the eves of the roof. The rooms generally are modern renovations of an historic building, done in very good taste. En suite bathrooms are splendid, beds comfortable with duvets.

This hotel is made from existing buildings to include the city wall and towers. Romantic as hell. We got a room in a tower so my daughter got to be a princess in the tower for the night. Restaurant is pricey for dinner. Breakfast is of good quality and is authentic Swiss. So bread, lunch meat, cheese, yogurt, cereal and fresh fruit.

The food is as good and creative as 30 years ago. A pleasure to visit this place. While the prices may be normal for Swiss standards, it is getting pricy for foreigners.

Solothurn was our 2nd and final stop of our Swiss-German itinerary which began on 29th July in Basel. We had to schedule our departure late from Basel on the 31st because Baseltor’s check-in policy was only from 1630! A further shock awaited us when we were informed that check out the next day was 10am. What sort of hotel has a ridiculous accommodation policy such as this; they don’t deserve to use the name Hotel! The room we had was in a loft; 2 single metallic beds which when pushed together ended up sliding away. The bathroom was tiny with the minimal of toiletries. We decided to have our dinner at the hotel; a big mistake. Pricey for very ordinary dishes. The only saving grace was that coffee at the check-out day’s breakfast was unlimited though the rest of the breakfast fare was nothing exceptional to write home about. Never again will we stay or recommend this hotel to anyone.

Stayed for 1 night in the hotel and visited the restaurant. The food was really good, mediterranean style with a modern take on it - like zucchini with figs. The staff was also really nice.
The room was good. The only cons: slow wifi and somewhat soft mattress - no star deduction though :)
The area around the hotel is really nice and quiet, with a certain historic charm to it. There is a underground public parking nearby.
